Cross-Cutting Conservation Approaches

Our strategy

We are committed to conserving Cameroon’s biodiversity and improving community well-being through cross-cutting strategies that promote sustainable development and environmental preservation.

Key Focus Areas

Sustaining the vast biodiversity and invaluable ecosystem services of Cameroon demands a holistic and multifaceted approach. At the Environment and Food Foundation (E2F), we embrace cross-cutting conservation strategies that address the complex challenges of safeguarding nature while supporting the well-being of communities.

Forests

Mangroves & Rainforests

Championing sustainable food systems that conserve nature and ensure food security.

Freshwater

Ensuring freshwater ecosystems and flow regimes in vital river basins provide water for both people and nature.

Marine

oceans

Enhancing the productivity and resilience of crucial fisheries and ocean ecosystems, thereby benefiting livelihoods and biodiversity.

Climate

Facilitating an equitable and just transition to limit warming to 1.5°C, protecting people and nature while building climate resilience.

Strategy 1

Sustainable Landscape and Seascape Planning - Creating Climate Smart and Resilient Ecosystems

Nature knows no boundaries, and neither do the challenges we face. This strategy emphasizes the significance of holistic planning, considering both terrestrial and marine environments. By broadening the coverage and effective management of protected areas, engaging private lands and community-based conservation, and strengthening territorial governance, we aim to build climate-smart and resilient landscapes and seascapes that withstand the impacts of climate change.

Strategy 2

Inclusive Policy Frameworks for Sustainable Development - Building Alliances for Conservation and Sustainable Production

At the E2F, we believe in the power of policy to drive positive change. In this strategy, we focus on strengthening policy frameworks that support conservation and sustainable use. By forging alliances among national, regional, and international actors, and promoting social, environmental, and political governance beyond borders, we strive to foster cooperation and collaboration for a more sustainable world.

Nurturing Cameroon's Vital Ecoregions

We strategically focus on three priority ecoregions. These areas hold unique significance as they provide critical marine, freshwater, and terrestrial ecosystem services to surrounding communities.
