Strategy 1
Sustainable Landscape and Seascape Planning - Creating Climate Smart and Resilient Ecosystems
Nature knows no boundaries, and neither do the challenges we face. This strategy emphasizes the significance of holistic planning, considering both terrestrial and marine environments. By broadening the coverage and effective management of protected areas, engaging private lands and community-based conservation, and strengthening territorial governance, we aim to build climate-smart and resilient landscapes and seascapes that withstand the impacts of climate change.
- Create more protected areas, at multiple levels, to reach the current 17% target for terrestrial areas and 10% target for marine areas.
- Set more ambitious targets for the 2030 agenda.
- Private lands and community- based conservation as a major opportunity to improve livelihoods and well-being.
